How You Can Help

How You Can Help

As an independent charity, we rely on the support of our local community to help us carry out the vital work that we do.

You can help us in the following ways:

The easiest way to make a donation to SWR is to click on the "Donate" button at the bottom of the page. This takes you to Local Giving which is the platform we have chosen to be our partner for online giving. If you are a tax payer you can make your donation worth 25p more for every £ you give, by signing the Gift Aid declaration.

                                                                                                                                  £10

...could provide the children at the Refuge with craft materials to express their feelings.

£20

...could help a family to buy emergency items when they arrive at the refuge.

£40

...could enable a child to receive a session of Play Therapy.

Becoming a Friend of The Refuge:

If you would like to support the Refuge in a more formal way, you could become a Friend of the Refuge and this would ensure you receive all the communications sent to our supporters. Please email the office at office@swrefuge.co.uk and request a 'Becoming a Friend' leaflet. It involves completing a simple form and possibly making a regular donation, preferably by Standing Order. Again, completing a Gift Aid declaration will enable us to claim an extra 25p of every £1 you give.

Fundraising on our Behalf or Sponsoring a Room or a Project:

If you are interested in fundraising for a local charity for your next event or sponsoring a room or project, please contact us via email at office@swrefuge.co.uk or fill in the form on our Contact Us  page.

Providing us with Essential Items:

If you have items you wish to donate or to see an up-to-date list of items we are accepting for donation please Contact us.

We also have a collection point at Sainsbury's in The Maltings where you can drop off groceries for the Refuge. We would especially appreciate donations of: coffee, rice, tinned meat, hot chocolate, meal sauces, cooking oil, long-life milk, tinned vegetables, tinned ravioli, cereals (apart from oats), tinned fruit, pulses, kitchen roll and cosmetic tissues.

Thank you for your support, it really does make a difference for the families that stay with us.

We would like to say a big thank you to so many friends of the Refuge who help to support the work that we do. Without your support, we would be unable to change the lives of so many women and children at the Refuge. Our friends and partners include:

The Mothers Union, Salisbury Diocese, The Rotary Club, The Lion's Club, The Salvation Army, St Paul's and St Thomas' Church and other local churches, Salisbury City Council, Wiltshire Community Foundation, Tesco Stores, Sainsbury's, College of Matrons, Queen Mothers Clothing Guild, Salisbury Soroptomists, Wiltshire Council and many other members of our local community.
